History of the Club

History of Our Club

Our club started by a group of British car enthusiasts and was initially named the North Alabama British Motoring Society. It was founded in 1985 by Steve Floyd and George Cagle, two individuals who shared a deep appreciation for the experiences associated with owning and driving British cars and motorcycles.

Over the 40+ years our club has been in existence, we have hosted a variety of shows, events, and activities. We have always been focused on our club objectives even as our membership, leadership, and the world around us has changed over time. Some of our founding members still participate in our club and it is always interesting to get their perspectives on how our club has changed and grown.

For many years we've included members with interest in European vehicles, even though we continued to be named the North Alabama British Motoring Society. In 2025 we officialy changed the club name to the North Alabama EuroBrit Motoring Society to better represent our membership and to better include many of the people who have been coming to our Annual EuroBrit Expo for years.

We actively work to maintain our community involvement and recruit new members. We especially look for opportunities to aid in the transfer of knowledge regarding vintage and specialty vehicles to new individuals, whether they are new car owners, new(old) car owners or those who haven't yet found their special project car.

History of the EuroBrit Expo

Starting in 2003 our club began hosting the Annual EuroBrit Expo to bring together both European and British vehicles from across the North Alabama region. This event was held in several different locations before we settled on Dublin Park, in Madison, AL, as our favorite site. Some of our previous show flyers are shown here.

When we first started hosting our show at Dublin Park, our event was held up near the playground area under trees. We liked that location but Dublin Park has chosen to build and renovate in that area. More recently, our show has been held on one of the soccer fields within the park. We find the flat, grassy soccer field gives us lots of options for vehicle layout and awards presentation that we didn't have previously. And the grassy show field makes for a cooler environment during hot summer days than the asphalt of a parking lot.

Our show format, associated show activities, and show awards have changed a lot over the years, but we've always stayed true to our goal of bringing together vehicle enthusiasts from across our region. Every year we work to improve our show experience for all attendees and we welcome feedback and new volunteers. Our show is organized and operated completely by volunteer club members and their families so we can't always manage everything we'd like to do. But we do our best. Please consider getting involved to help us out and make it possible for our upcoming show be an even greater success. Learn more on our Annual Expo Page.

Over the years we've dealt with many different weather conditions for our Show Day and we have previously tried to reschedule our event after it has been canceled due to severe weather. Because of these experiences, we currently have a Rain or Shine Policy. We also have an alternate parking lot location layout if we have to deal with a wet show field. Learn more on our Annual Expo Page.

Initially, our show proceeds went to support the Autism Research Foundation. More recently, we have partnered with the Calhoun Community College Automotive Technology Program to help support their Automotive Technology Fund. This year (2026) we've established our own sponsored fund with the Calhoun Foundation to support a Scholarship to be awarded to a student within the Automotive Technology Program.
